The role
We're looking for an experienced Head of Building Safety & Remediation to provide senior leadership across one of the most important areas of our Property Directorate.
This is a significant leadership opportunity. You'll take responsibility for the delivery of building safety and remediation activity across Orbit's portfolio of in-scope buildings, helping us respond to an evolving regulatory landscape while ensuring the safety of our customers remains at the heart of every decision we make.
This role is part of Property where you'll help us to lead the way investing and maintaining 46,000 homes.
What you'll achieve
Building safety has changed significantly in recent years, bringing greater accountability, scrutiny and expectations across the housing and property sectors.
At Orbit, we want to go beyond simply meeting those requirements.
We want to continue developing a strong culture of building safety, supported by robust evidence, effective governance and confident decision-making.
As our Head of Building Safety & Remediation, you'll have the opportunity to shape that approach.
- Lead the delivery of Orbit's Building Safety requirements across our portfolio.
- Provide senior leadership and oversight of a complex, multi-year building remediation programme.
- Act as a senior operational lead for engagement with the Building Safety Regulator and other relevant regulators and external bodies.
- Provide clear, evidence-based assurance to the Accountable Person, Executive and Board on building safety risk, compliance and remediation.
- Ensure our building safety cases, risk assessments and supporting evidence are robust, accurate and auditable.
- Maintain the integrity of the Golden Thread of information across our higher-risk buildings.
- Lead the governance, performance and financial oversight of our remediation programme.
- Chair Orbit's Expert Technical Panel, ensuring high-quality technical advice informs proportionate and evidence-based decisions.
- Lead, develop and motivate a multidisciplinary team, creating a culture of professional judgement, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively across Property, Finance, Legal, Communications and Regulatory Data to ensure building safety is embedded throughout Orbit.
- Build trusted relationships with customers, contractors, consultants, regulators and other external partners.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
