Head of Business Consulting UK

Hybrid variable London or Birmingham

Who we are

NTT is an agile, innovative and extremely people-focused company; it feels like a start-up but with serious backing and has the reputation of exceptional end-to-end solutions.

You'll be joining the largest IT Service Providers, present in more than 50 countries. From our roots in Japan, NTT DATA's mission is to facilitate business change and technology transformation across many industries for a better future for our business, people and community.

Everything we do is underpinned by our core values of 'Clients First', 'Teamwork' and 'Foresight' and we achieve these by putting people first.

We support and celebrate our differences and preferences, these are what makes us unique. Some of our initiatives, collectively known as “DO Diversity”, aim to create a space for us to learn and get involved in building a truly diverse environment.

What you will be doing

As Head of Business Consulting, you will lead and grow NTT DATA UK&I's cross-sector Business Consulting practice. This is a senior, hands-on consulting leadership role with accountability for the quality and growth of the capability, its commercial performance, and the development of our people.

Business Consulting sub-practice operates horizontally across our sectors, alongside the Technology Consulting sub-practice. Acting as the leader of the sub-practice, you will partner with your colleagues in the Consulting leadership team and Sector leaders on shaping market positioning, building executive client relationships, and expanding NTT DATA's business consulting footprint. You will be expected to remain highly client-facing and personally chargeable, with a target of approximately 75% chargeability.

A major priority is to strengthen our relevance in an AI-enabled market. You will position Business Consulting at the front of AI transformation: helping clients move from experimentation to enterprise adoption through AI strategy, AI-native target operating models, process and workforce redesign, change and adoption, governance, and measurable value realisation.

Success in this role will be measured through consulting sales, revenue and margin performance; personal chargeability; strength and conversion of the pipeline; quality and impact of client delivery; growth of the Business Consulting proposition; and the development of a high-performing consulting team.

Client Development and Growth

  • Own the Business Consulting growth agenda across sectors, partnering with Sector and Account leaders to identify, shape and convert strategic consulting and transformation opportunities in existing and new clients.
  • Build trusted relationships with C-suite and senior business leaders, using strong consulting judgement to diagnose business problems, frame outcomes and create demand before a formal opportunity exists.
  • Originate and shape work across our core Business Consulting pillars: Business Strategy & Advisory, Operating Model Design, Process Design, Adoption & Change Management, Value Realisation, and Technology & Digital Enablement.
  • Lead AI-led business transformation conversations, including enterprise AI adoption, AI-native operating models, workforce and role redesign, process re-imagination, governance, adoption and benefits realisation.
  • Lead strategic pursuits and proposals, ensuring the client problem, value proposition, delivery approach, commercials and differentiation are clear and compelling.
  • Hold direct accountability for agreed Business Consulting sales, revenue and margin targets, with disciplined pipeline management, forecasting and commercial decision-making.
  • Create consulting-led pull-through for wider NTT DATA services by connecting business outcomes to the right technology, data, AI, cloud and delivery capabilities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Consulting Delivery Leadership

  • Maintain a personal chargeability target of approximately 75% through hands-on leadership of priority client engagements, senior advisory roles and executive sponsorship.
  • Lead complex business transformation engagements from strategy through execution, particularly where operating model, process, organisation, technology and change need to come together.
  • Bring practical expertise in AI-enabled transformation, including how AI changes decision rights, processes, roles, skills, controls, governance and ways of working - not simply the deployment of technology.
  • Provide executive oversight and quality assurance across key engagements, ensuring clear outcomes, strong consulting craft, effective governance and delivery to scope, margin and client expectations.
  • Make value realisation explicit: establish baselines, benefits, adoption measures and executive-level reporting so clients can see whether transformation is delivering the intended operational and financial outcomes.
  • Identify and convert opportunities to extend successful consulting work into broader transformation programmes and long-term client partnerships.

Thought Leadership and Market Leadership

  • Own the development and evolution of differentiated Business Consulting propositions, methodologies, assets and points of view across the six consulting pillars.
  • Establish a distinctive market position around AI-enabled business transformation, including AI adoption, AI-native target operating models, intelligent process redesign, workforce transformation and value realisation.
  • Track client, market and technology trends and translate them into practical propositions and executive conversations rather than generic thought leadership.
  • Leverage NTT DATA's global offerings, case studies, accelerators and specialists, adapting them for the UK&I market and integrating them into client propositions.
  • Represent NTT DATA externally through client roundtables, events, publications and executive forums where this supports market credibility and growth.

People and Practice Leadership

  • Lead, coach and develop the Business Consulting team, creating a high-performance culture with clear expectations for consulting quality, commercial contribution, collaboration and professional growth.
  • Own workforce planning, utilisation, capability mix, succession and targeted hiring so the practice has the right capacity and skills against demand.
  • Build practical AI capability across the team so consultants can credibly advise clients on AI-enabled operating change, not just technology implementation.
  • Manage the practice with commercial discipline, including utilisation, chargeability, sales pipeline, revenue, margin, delivery quality, forecasting and individual performance.
  • Work as one Consulting leadership team with Technology Consulting, sharing opportunities, combining capabilities and avoiding organisational boundaries in front of the client.
  • Contribute actively to the wider Consulting leadership agenda, including proposition development, talent, operations, strategic priorities and cross-practice growth.

You will also

  • Be a visible player-coach: personally shape, sell and deliver work while leading the practice, rather than operating primarily as an internal management role.
  • Build and maintain a qualified consulting sales pipeline and take ownership from early client conversation through deal shaping, commercial agreement, mobilisation and delivery.
  • Work closely with Sales/Account Directors, Sector leaders and Technology Consulting to structure integrated solutions and present them back to clients with a clear business case and outcome narrative.
  • Use data and operating metrics to make decisions quickly on pipeline, hiring, deployment, pricing and performance, protecting both growth and margin.

What You Will Need

  • Significant leadership experience in a recognised business, management or transformation consulting environment, with evidence of operating at senior practice, capability or portfolio level.
  • Deep Business Consulting expertise across strategy, target operating model, process redesign, organisation and workforce, adoption and change, and benefits/value realisation.
  • Strong practical experience of AI-enabled business transformation, including enterprise AI adoption and the implications of AI for operating models, processes, roles, governance, skills and change.
  • A proven track record of originating, shaping, selling and delivering complex consulting engagements with C-suite and senior business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commercial ownership, including accountability for consulting sales, revenue, margin, pipeline, pricing and utilisation/chargeability.
  • The credibility and energy to sustain approximately 75% personal chargeability while also leading sales, people, proposition and practice priorities.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary transformation work and connecting business consulting to technology, data and AI delivery without losing the focus on business outcomes.
  • Proven experience building and developing consulting teams, including coaching senior consultants, managing performance, planning capability and hiring selectively against growth needs.
  • Strong executive communication, facilitation and negotiation skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues, challenge constructively and create confidence with senior clients.
  • Entrepreneurial judgement, pace and pragmatism: able to move from ambiguous client problem to proposition, sale and delivery, while maintaining consulting quality and commercial discipline.
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience. Relevant consulting, transformation, change, programme or AI qualifications are desirable but not a substitute for a strong track record.
