Role Overview
The role will lead a business development team responsible for building strategic relationships and driving revenue growth across existing and prospective clients within a specialist development and manufacturing services organisation supporting complex therapeutic modalities, including nucleic acid and peptide-based programs. The position supports the continued growth of a rapidly expanding CRDMO business, with responsibility spanning early research through clinical development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing business development team supporting advanced therapeutic and early development services.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with emerging and established biopharma organisations aligned to discovery and development capabilities, with exposure to peptide and nucleic acid-based modalities.
- Manage strategic accounts and support long-term customer partnerships from research through early clinical phases.
- Represent the organisation at conferences, industry events, customer meetings and digital engagements.
- Support lead generation activities arising from marketing campaigns, events, webinars and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor industry trends including funding activity, regulatory changes, partnerships, licensing, M&A activity and market developments.
- Build and maintain an external network of industry stakeholders and scientific contacts.
- Develop and execute business development plans and performance strategies.
- Maintain CRM records, pipeline activity and account intelligence.
- Monitor competitive activity and contribute to future service and portfolio development.
- Build strong internal relationships across technical, operational and commercial teams.
- Support strategic customer initiatives, business continuity activities and executive-level engagement when required.
- Facilitate customer visits and international collaborations across multiple regions.

Candidate Profile

- Significant experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, CDMO or related life sciences environments, including leadership responsibility.
- Strong scientific understanding of drug discovery and development processes, ideally with exposure to complex modalities such as peptides, oligonucleotides or related therapeutic platforms.
- Degree qualification in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related discipline; postgraduate qualification preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading international commercial teams.
- Track record of driving business growth, developing strategic accounts and delivering commercial objectives.
- Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with CRM platforms and commercial reporting systems.
- Self-motivated, organised and able to operate effectively within fast-paced, complex environments.
