Role and Responsibilities
The Head of Business Development is responsible for leading, developing and motivating a team of business development executives to generate qualified opportunities, secure new business and maximise customer value. The role focuses on delivering sales growth through effective outbound calling campaigns, lead generation, pipeline development and performance management.
The successful candidate will be a highly organised and results-driven leader with the ability to coach, inspire and develop a high-performing telesales team while ensuring the achievement of individual and team sales targets.
This role is hybrid in Nelson (Lancashire), requiring 3 days per week in the office.

- Lead, motivate and develop the team to achieve and exceed performance targets.
- Recruit, onboard and train new team members
- Create a positive, high-performance sales culture focused on accountability and results.
- Develop and implement telesales strategies to support business growth.
- Monitor conversion rates and implement improvements to maximise results.
- Ensure effective lead qualification and follow-up processes.
- Set and monitor daily, weekly and monthly KPIs.
- Review sales activity and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Track call volumes, conversion rates, appointment generation and sales outcomes.
- Deliver regular performance reports and forecasts to senior management.
- Develop and refine telesales scripts and sales methodologies.
- Ensure effective use of CRM systems and accurate record keeping.
- Identify and implement improvements to sales processes and workflows.
- Maintain quality standards and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with Marketing, Business Development and Field Sales teams.
- Provide feedback on lead quality, market trends and customer requirements.
- Support sales campaigns and business development initiatives.
- Read and comply with the company Health & Safety Policy; taking reasonable care for the Health & Safety of themselves and others; co-operate with managers and other employees in fulfilling our objectives and statutory duties.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience in telesales management or sales team leadership.
- Strong track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Experience managing KPI-driven teams.
- Excellent coaching and people management skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Experience using CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
- Commercial awareness and problem-solving capability.
- Results-driven and highly motivated.
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder.
- Positive attitude and commitment to continuous improvement.
Desirable:
- Experience in B2B sales environments.
- Knowledge of sales forecasting and pipeline management.
- Experience designing telesales campaigns and sales scripts.
- Relevant sales or management qualification.
