About the Organisation
A leading UK provider of specialist community support and rapid-response services for individuals with complex behavioural, mental health, and crisis-related needs. The organisation delivers proactive, trauma‑informed care through multidisciplinary teams including mental health professionals, behavioural specialists, and highly trained support workers.
They also operate a 24/7 specialist staffing division, supplying trained personnel to services requiring complex‑needs expertise or urgent cover.
This role sits at the commercial centre of the organisation, driving growth across commissioning bodies, local authorities, NHS trusts, private providers, and integrated care systems.
Role Overview
The organisation is seeking a strategic, high‑impact Head of Sales / Senior Business Development Manager to lead commercial growth across the UK. You will shape and execute the national sales strategy, expand relationships with commissioners, and position the organisation as a first‑choice provider for crisis support, complex care staffing, and transitional community services.
This role is ideal for a commercial leader who thrives in mission‑led environments, understands the health & social care landscape, and can translate a specialist service model into long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Develop and deliver a national sales strategy aligned with organisational goals.
- Identify new markets, service gaps, and partnership opportunities across NHS, local authorities, private providers, and ICS networks.
- Lead commercial forecasting, pipeline management, and quarterly growth reporting.

Business Development & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain high-value relationships with commissioners, social workers, service managers, and clinical leaders.
- Present the organisation’s proactive care model, crisis-response capabilities, and specialist staffing solutions with clarity and impact.
- Lead tender responses, framework applications, and commercial negotiations.
Sales Execution
- Drive outbound engagement, networking, and attendance at sector events, exhibitions, and commissioning forums.
- Convert inbound referrals into long-term partnerships through consultative selling.
- Ensure consistent follow-up, relationship nurturing, and high-quality communication.
Collaboration & Internal Leadership
- Work closely with clinical, operations, and staffing teams to ensure commercial commitments align with service delivery.
- Provide market intelligence to leadership, influencing service development and strategic decisions.
- Mentor junior BDMs and support the development of a high-performing commercial function.
Experience
- Proven track record in healthcare sales, complex care, mental health services, or specialist staffing.
- Experience selling into NHS, local authorities, or social care providers.
- Demonstrable success in achieving sales quotas, winning contracts, and building strategic partnerships.
- Strong understanding of commissioning pathways, crisis support models, and complex needs services.
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to articulate complex service models with clarity and confidence.
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building capabilities.
- Commercially astute with excellent pipeline management and forecasting skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-led environment with national travel.
