Head of Business Development & Marketing - Defence/MoD/Gov
Shape the future of Defence technology
Lead growth at a mission-driven IT & SaaS SME trusted by the MoD and Defence for some of their largest cyber related projects.
About the company
This UK-based cyber security SME has been protecting UK infrastructure and Defence for decades. Trusted technology for the MoD, Government and other critical sectors. With a new commercial structure and an experienced leadership team, the business is entering its next phase of growth - and this is one of its most important hires.
About the role
Lead the commercial growth strategy across UK Defence, the MoD and wider Government.
- Build and execute strategic business development plans, identifying opportunities long before formal procurement begins.
- Develop executive relationships across the MoD, Defence Digital, DE&S, Dstl, Defence Primes and other key stakeholders.
- Lead marketing as part of the overall commercial strategy, ensuring campaigns, messaging and thought leadership support measurable growth.
- Create and execute account-based growth strategies for priority customers.
- Position the business as a trusted adviser rather than simply another technology supplier.
- Represent the company at Defence events, industry forums and customer engagements.
- Work closely with engineering, product and leadership teams to align commercial strategy with technical capability.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
