Head of Business Development
London | [Hybrid / Remote] | Full-time | Immediate start
At Altheome we help researchers and drug developers measure what others can't. We're a UK-based CRO specialising in ultra-sensitive proteomics and biomarker services. We run an advanced multi-platform lab with Alamar NULISA (ARGO HT), Quanterix, MSD electrochemiluminescence, Seer and Aviti NGS.
We're growing, and we're looking for a Head of Business Development to own and expand our commercial pipeline across pharma, biotech and academic clients. The role is available immediately, and we would prefer someone who can start straight away.
What you'll do
- Own the full BD cycle, from prospecting and scientific conversations through proposals, contracting and close.
- Build and manage relationships with pharma, biotech and academic decision-makers in the UK, Europe and the US.
- Turn client needs into compelling, scientifically sound proposals, working closely with our lab and scientific teams.
- Shape commercial strategy, pricing and positioning for our biomarker and proteomics services
- Represent Altheome at conferences, industry events and client meetings.
- Track pipeline, forecasts and performance, and report to the leadership team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
