Role: Head of Business Development

Location: UK based, weekly travel

Job type: 12 months FTC

Salary: Competitive, DOE. Plus Car Allowance and bonus

Our client is a market-leading organisation operating within the legal sector, recognised for its exceptional client service, commercial excellence, and ambitious growth strategy.

This is a strategic leadership role, offering the opportunity to work closely with the Executive Team and Senior Partners to shape and deliver business development initiatives that drive revenue growth, strengthen client relationships, and enhance market positioning.

The successful candidate will be a commercially minded business development leader with a proven track record within the legal sector or a comparable professional services environment.

Reporting into senior leadership, the Head of Business Development will be responsible for developing and implementing the firm's business development and growth strategy, ensuring alignment with wider organisational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development and execution of strategic business development and client growth plans.
  • Identifying and capitalising on new market opportunities to drive sustainable revenue growth.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with key clients, strategic partners, and referral networks.
  • Working collaboratively with Partners and senior stakeholders to develop sector-led and client-centric growth initiatives.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing business development team.
  • Driving cross-selling and client retention strategies across the business.
  • Monitoring market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Supporting major tenders, pitches, and strategic business opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Significant business development leadership experience within the legal sector or a comparable professional services environment.
  • A demonstrable track record of delivering substantial revenue growth and commercial success.
  • Strong client relationship management skills with a genuinely client-centric approach.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing successful business development or sales teams.
  • The ability to influence and engage at executive, partner, and board level.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
