The Role
The UK Commercial Banking (CMB) Business Management team helps the business run effectively through clear planning, performance insight, disciplined governance and consistent engagement with key stakeholders. As Head of Business Management, UK Commercial Banking you’ll set the agenda for the function and act as a trusted strategic adviser to the Head of UK Commercial Banking and the UK CMB Operating Committee. This is a six-month assignment with a focus on establishing continuity quickly and maintaining momentum across existing priorities. You’ll bring structure to decision-making through a strong operating rhythm and high-quality reporting that supports accountability and action. Success means clearer priorities, sharper performance insight and well-run forums that translate decisions into outcomes across financial, client, people, risk and strategic objectives.
What you'll be doing
- Own the UK CMB business management agenda, translating leadership priorities into clear plans, ownership and follow-through
- Advise the Head of UK CMB with executive briefings, decision papers, presentations and talking points on performance, risks and opportunities
- Oversee performance insight that integrates financial and non-financial data across clients, markets, pipeline, revenue, costs, productivity, people and risk
- Establish the UK CMB operating rhythm across business reviews, leadership meetings and critical forums with clear objectives and documented outcomes
- Set standards for UK CMB scorecards, dashboards and reporting to improve data quality, commentary, escalation and decision usefulness
- Govern the UK CMB forward plan and key governance forums, ensuring papers are timely, concise and decision-oriented with effective action tracking
- Oversee workforce planning and head-office cost transparency, balancing budget discipline with client outcomes, controls and capability needs
- Champion responsible use of digital and AI tools to improve insight and efficiency while applying appropriate judgement, confidentiality and controls

What we're looking for
- Bring deep understanding of UK CMB segments, products, clients and markets and what shapes financial and non-financial performance
- Offer substantial experience in business management, strategy, transformation or performance management in a senior environment
- Demonstrate credibility when advising and providing constructive challenge to senior leaders on priorities, risks, controls and delivery
- Communicate complex topics clearly through high-quality papers, presentations, briefings, recommendations and senior updates
- Apply strong analytical and commercial skills to interpret data and convert it into actions, decisions and measurable outcomes
- Build trusted relationships across functions and partner effectively with stakeholders to resolve issues and progress opportunities
- Manage multiple strategic workstreams with effective planning, prioritisation and quality control in a regulated environment
- Use digital and AI tools responsibly to improve outputs and automate repeatable activity with appropriate review, data handling and controls

Strengthening UK CMB execution
