Head of Business Systems & IT
Location: St Albans
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Salary: £75,000 – £90,000 dependent on experience, plus benefits
Bolt Technical are recruiting exclusively for an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Business Systems & IT to join an established and growing multi-site business. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will lead a small IT and business systems function and take ownership of how technology supports and improves the wider business. You will play a key role in driving systems development, process improvement, automation and the practical adoption of AI across the organisation.
Duties of a Head of Business Systems & IT:
- Lead and develop a team of 3, within a business of c200 employees
- Define and deliver the IT and business systems strategy in line with business objectives
- Work closely with departments across the business to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for system improvements, automation and AI
- Own the development roadmap for core ERP, warehouse management and e-commerce systems
- Manage system changes from initial requirements and scoping through to development, testing, implementation and adoption
- Manage relationships with external software providers, agencies and technology partners
- Lead user acceptance testing and ensure successful implementation of new systems and functionality
- Drive the introduction and adoption of AI and automation, identifying practical opportunities and measuring results
- Develop internal system capability through departmental champions and improved training
- Improve data quality and governance to support reporting, automation and AI
- Take overall responsibility for PCI DSS, GDPR and data protection compliance
- Own the organisation's cyber security strategy and policies

What you need to apply for Head of Business Systems & IT:
- Experience in a similar role
- Proven experience delivering system changes that have improved business processes and efficiency
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and how they support areas such as finance, purchasing, stock and fulfilment
- Previous experience managing people, project teams or cross-functional teams
- Experience managing external software suppliers, agencies or technology partners
- Strong business analysis skills, with the ability to understand processes and translate requirements into practical system solutions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both operational teams and senior leadership
- Practical knowledge of AI and automation, with the ability to identify genuine business opportunities
- Working knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and PCI DSS
- Strong understanding of data quality, security and governance
