Head of Capital
Head of Capital – Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets (MRS-GM)

About the Role
You will lead the Capital Team, managing operations, the Internal Model (IM), and its use and development. Reporting to MRSL and MRSG, you will:
- Maintain model code, documentation, and parameterisation
- Support IM validation processes
- Provide actuarial input to key business activities, including:
- Business planning
- Reinsurance strategy
- Risk & capital processes
You will serve as the primary point of contact for capital-related inquiries, fostering strong relationships with: ✔ The Chair of the Risk & Capital Committee (R&CC) ✔ Risk, Reserving, Underwriting, Reinsurance, Business Planning, and Finance teams
Responsibilities
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage and lead the Capital Team, including resource and work planning, staff training, and development
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders such as the Chair of R&CC, CEO, CRO, and Munich Re IRM
- Strengthen relationships with Underwriting, Reinsurance, Risk Management, Reserving, Pricing, and Finance teams

Model Governance & Development
- Maintain, run, develop, and parameterise actuarial elements of the IM
- Produce targeted reporting for: SCR, ORSA, PRA, AoC, SBF, LCM, 1-in-30 AEPs and reinsurance cost allocation
- Liaise with Underwriting, Claims, Reinsurance, Pricing, and Reserving to explain IM outputs and secure agreement on model inputs
- Peer-review best-estimate reserves annually to ensure consistency with IM assumptions
Compliance & Governance
- Maintain model documentation, change logs, and outputs
- Attend key committees:
- R&CC meetings (5 business days’ notice for reporting)
- R&CC SG meetings (3 days’ notice)
- RISG meetings
- One of the CALM or LMAG sessions
- If required, take ownership of the ULM (Underwriting Loss Matching) for GSI entities, expanding its application
Requirements & Experience
Technical & Professional Expertise
✔ Deep Lloyd’s capital processes knowledge ✔ 3+ years of senior capital modelling experience ✔ Tyche model experience ✔ Ability to manage 3+ team members ✔ Proven ability to present to Board-level executives ✔ University degree or relevant professional qualification
