Head of Care
Children’s Residential Care

We are looking for an experienced Head of Care to provide senior leadership across a new children’s residential service supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
This is a key leadership role focused on care quality, compliance, safeguarding, staffing and operational performance. You will help lead the service through registration, mobilisation, opening and first admissions, ensuring strong systems, a skilled team and safe, person-centred care are in place from the start.
The role will involve:
- Line managing the Registered Manager and supporting the wider management team
- Leading mobilisation, registration, recruitment and phased admissions
- Embedding Positive Behaviour Support and reducing restrictive practice
- Ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Maintaining readiness for Regulation 44, Regulation 45 and Ofsted inspections
- Acting as a senior safeguarding lead
- Overseeing incidents, complaints, allegations and significant concerns
- Building relationships with families, Local Authorities, health professionals, commissioners and Ofsted
- Managing budgets, occupancy, workforce planning and staffing levels

We are looking for someone with:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services, or equivalent
- At least 3 years’ residential childcare experience within the last 5 years
- Minimum 2 years at Registered Manager level or equivalent
- Experience line managing managers and leading large or multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, legislation and children’s residential care regulations
- Full UK driving licence

- Track record of Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes
- Qualification in learning disabilities, autism or Positive Behaviour Support
