We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of CEP Commercials & Financial Governance.
You’ll provide senior technical, commercial and financial expertise across HSBC’s IBM Z (mainframe), IBM i and Tertiary Vault platforms. It shapes the technology roadmap, leads governance, manages financial forecasting and recharge models, and oversees commercial negotiations with major software and hardware suppliers. You’ll ensures investment and delivery decisions balance resilience, risk, cost and business outcomes.
You’ll work alongside engineering and support the CEP Planning, Governance & Strategy Manager, partnering with senior business leaders, Finance, Procurement, Risk, Architecture, engineers and external vendors across a global stakeholder network.

In this role you’ll:
- Shape and maintain the technology roadmap for HSBC’s IBM Z, IBM i and Tertiary Vault platforms
- Lead commercial negotiations, contract renewals and sourcing activity with strategic software and hardware suppliers
- Manage technology licensing, supplier agreements and cost-optimisation initiatives
- Design and govern IT recharging models, ensuring accurate cost allocation and recovery across business units
- Own financial forecasting, budget management, variance analysis and portfolio cost governance
- Run effective portfolio governance, including controls, RAID management, milestones, executive reporting and benefits tracking
- Build trusted relationships with senior business leaders, Finance, Procurement, Risk, Architecture, engineers and external vendors
- Lead and support delivery teams by removing blockers, managing dependencies, nurturing talent and ensuring solutions are resilient, secure and customer-focused
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Lead complex contracts, renewals and sourcing with major technology suppliers
- Experience of IBM Z and/or IBM i lifecycles, including hardware, operating systems, middleware and operational dependencies are essential
- Build forecasts, budgets, variance analysis, cost models and recharge frameworks
- Manage competing initiatives, dependencies, RAID, controls, milestones and executive reporting
- Communicate effectively with executives, business leaders, engineers, Finance, Procurement, Risk and vendors
- Identify risks, develop sustainable mitigations and maintain audit-ready governance in a regulated environment
- Develop business cases and options analyses that explain total cost of ownership, assumptions, trade-offs and investment choices
- Use advanced Excel for forecasting and scenario analysis, and PowerPoint to create clear, executive-ready decision papers and steering packs
