Head of Client Money Governance

Are you a qualified accountant? Do you have strong knowledge of the FCA CASS 5 rules? This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our London office with the opportunity to be the key finance lead on client money compliance and accounting for the fiduciary balance sheet!

What the Day Will Look Like

The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with the FCA’s CASS 5 client money requirements by maintaining the strong governance structure and providing guidance to the business and on various projects. Additionally, the role is responsible for the accounting, financial control/oversight and analytics of the fiduciary assets and liabilities on the balance sheet.

  • Overseeing the completion of the client money calculations.
  • Maintaining strong client money governance by leading the client money committee, owning the procedures and risk & controls matrix and ensuring completion of the external client money audit.
  • Driving strategic initiatives and project based work to ensure client money compliance, alongside improving the processes and controls of the function.
  • Ensuring a successful financial close as it relates to fiduciary ledgers and fiduciary accounts. This should be timely and accurate, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, resolution of issues, responding to queries and providing insightful analysis to support the month end reporting process.
  • Providing an annual client money training module to relevant colleagues.

Skills and Experience That Will Lead to Success

  • Expertise in FCA CASS 5 Client Money rules.
  • Background in an auditing, accounting or reporting function.
  • Strong attention to detail, including analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to influence to achieve common objectives.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
