Head of Client Operations

Job Description

So, who are we?

IG has been at the centre of retail trading and investment since 1974, when we helped create the market for financial spread betting. Today, we're a FTSE100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 700,000 clients and handling billions in transactions - built on decades of scale, trust and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that’s rare in established businesses. The bar is high - bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next. Join us at IG – the future gets built here.

About the Team

Client Operations sits within Operations function as a leadership position reporting into Operations Director and brings together Corporate Actions, Payments, Portfolio Management, Transaction Reporting and Operations Process Monitoring under one wing. Together these teams ensure clients' assets, transactions and holdings are processed accurately, efficiently and in line with regulatory requirements. As a leadership position, Client Operations plays a critical role in maintaining operational resilience and driving continuous improvement across the client servicing lifecycle.

Your Role in the Team’s Success

We are looking for a Head of Client Operations to join the Operations leadership team. You will have overall accountability for the teams reporting directly into you, alongside their respective teams. You will be responsible for the performance, output and quality of these three functions, ensuring they operate cohesively and deliver against shared operational and regulatory standards. You will represent Client Operations at a leadership level, working closely with the Operations Director to shape strategy and drive performance across the wider Operations function.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide leadership and direction across Corporate Actions, Payments, Portfolio Management, Operations Process Monitoring and Transaction Reporting ensuring alignment to shared operational goals
  • Own the performance, output and quality of all functions, reporting directly to the Operations Director
  • Manage and develop your direct reports
  • Ensure robust controls, processes and governance are in place across all teams reporting into the head of client operations
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and efficiency across the functions
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements across all areas of accountability
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with Compliance, Technology, Product and other Operations leadership peers
  • Escalate and manage operational risk issues appropriately, ensuring timely resolution
  • Contribute to the wider Operations leadership agenda, representing Client Operations in strategic discussions
  • Report on performance, risk and delivery against KPIs to the Operations Director and wider leadership team

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
