First Point Group is recruiting for a Head of Commercial

First Point Group is recruiting for a Head of Commercial to join a high-growth food and consumer brand, taking ownership of the commercialisation and UK retail growth of its food portfolio.

This is a hands-on role for someone who has helped build and scale a challenger FMCG or food brand within the UK retail market.

We are not looking for someone who has simply managed an established business or led large commercial teams. The successful candidate will have been close to the detail of building a brand: developing the proposition, launching products, opening retail channels, growing distribution and putting the commercial and operational foundations in place to scale.

Please note – visa sponsorship is not available, so candidates must live in the UK with valid rights to work.

The Opportunity

The business is at an important stage of its growth and is looking for someone who wants genuine influence over product, commercial strategy and brand development as it scales. The business is backed by experienced investors and has ambitious plans for the UK market. This is a broad leadership opportunity with considerably more influence than a traditional commercial role, particularly for someone who enjoys building and scaling challenger brands within FMCG.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the commercial and go-to-market strategy for the company's food portfolio across the UK.
  • Build and scale the brand's presence across the UK retail landscape.
  • Develop relationships with key retailers, distributors, buyers and strategic commercial partners.
  • Drive distribution, availability, visibility and penetration across grocery, convenience, e-commerce and other relevant channels.
  • Take products from concept through commercialisation, launch and retail scale.
  • Identify consumer trends, unmet needs and emerging opportunities across food, snacking, health, wellness and functional food categories.
  • Build and manage the category and product innovation pipeline alongside Brand, Marketing, Supply Chain and Manufacturing.
  • Develop business cases, pricing strategies, channel strategies and go-to-market plans for new and existing products.
  • Ensure new products are launched on time, at the right cost and with a compelling consumer proposition.
  • Work hands-on across the operational requirements associated with scaling products and retail distribution.
  • Monitor competitor, category, retailer and consumer performance to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Work closely with supply chain and manufacturing partners to ensure the operational model can support commercial growth.
  • Drive revenue, distribution, market penetration and category growth.
  • Ensure relevant product, nutrition and health claims are commercially compelling and compliant with applicable regulatory requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
