I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience across both B2B and B2C markets, digital commerce, acquisitive businesses, commercial transformation or the practical application of AI and automation would be particularly valuable.
You will be curious, entrepreneurial and opportunity-focused, while bringing the evidence and commercial discipline needed to distinguish a good idea from a genuinely worthwhile investment.
Why join WCF?
This is an opportunity to create and shape a new Group capability, rather than simply inherit an established model.
You will have:
- broad influence across a diverse portfolio of businesses
- the opportunity to make a visible contribution to WCF’s future
- autonomy to explore ideas and challenge established thinking
- exposure to different sectors, customers and commercial models
- the chance to join a part employee-owned business focused on long-term, sustainable success
