Greater Manchester
Circa £75,000-£80,000 + benefits
A growing consumer business is looking for a Commercial leader to own the numbers behind the business and work closely with senior leadership.
This is a hands-on role. You'll continue building out a commercial reporting function that departments across the business rely on, work daily with operations, sales and logistics to keep performance data accurate, and be the person who can explain why the numbers move. You'll sit close enough to the detail to catch a problem in a product line or a channel before it reaches the monthly numbers, and close enough to leadership to turn that insight into a decision.
What You'll Own
- Commercial and management reporting: the dashboards and models leadership quotes back in meetings, covering sales performance, margin and cost.
- Performance tracking across departments, working directly with operations, sales and logistics teams to keep the data current and catch issues early.
- Margin and cost analysis that feeds into pricing decisions, supplier negotiations and stock planning.
- Forecasting and scenario modelling, giving leadership a realistic view of where the business is heading, built on current trading and channel trends.
- Contract and supplier commercial reviews, working with procurement and operations to protect margin on renewals and new agreements.
- Stock and demand planning input, working with logistics to flag where inventory decisions are affecting cash or service levels.
- Sales performance analysis by channel, product and customer, working with the sales team to understand what's driving movement in the numbers.
- A close working relationship with senior leadership, sitting in on decisions and challenging a number or a plan when the data tells a different story.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
