Head of Commercial Finance / FP&A

Central London | 4 Days in the Office | £120,000 - £140,000 + Profit Share (4-Year Vesting)

This could be a game-changing career move for someone on their way to becoming a top CFO. We’re partnering with an incredibly ambitious and well-funded scale-up that has already been on a remarkable journey. They’ve secured record levels of investment, built an exceptional leadership team and are targeting £100m revenue within the next three years.

They’re scaling through acquisitions, investing heavily in technology, data and AI, and have some seriously impressive people behind the business.

Now they want to hire an exceptional Head of Commercial Finance / FP&A.

This isn't just about producing a better forecast or building a slick board pack. They want someone with commercial vision.

Someone who can look at a business, understand where the value is, identify what needs to change and use finance to genuinely improve commercial performance.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Finance Director, you’ll build and lead the FP&A and Commercial Finance capability from the ground up.

You’ll be right at the heart of how the business grows and makes decisions.

You’ll:

  • Build the FP&A and Commercial Finance function from scratch
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-range strategic planning
  • Identify the biggest commercial opportunities, risks and performance drivers
  • Partner with the Executive Team to improve revenue, margin, cash and overall performance
  • Build commercial models and scenario analysis around growth, investment and strategic decisions
  • Develop KPIs, board reporting and management information that actually influences decisions
  • Support investor reporting, fundraising and strategic finance projects
  • Track acquisition performance, synergies and integration
  • Own cashflow forecasting and support future funding requirements
  • Improve the quality of data, systems and commercial insight across the business
  • Use AI, automation and technology to build a genuinely modern finance function
  • Become a trusted commercial partner to the Finance Director and wider leadership team

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Who Are We Looking For?

The bar is high.

They want top talent. Someone already building a career that could ultimately take them into a significant CFO role.

You’ll be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), ideally with first-time passes, combined with a strong academic and educational background.

Your career journey matters too.

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate stability, progression and increasing responsibility, rather than lots of short moves.

Most importantly, you’ll need to show commercial impact.

What have you changed? What have you built? Where have your ideas improved performance? How have you influenced a CEO, Board or leadership team to make a better decision?

We don't particularly care whether you've done that in a £100m, £500m or a £1B turnover business. We care about the quality of your thinking, the impact you've made and where your career is heading.

You’ll be bright, ambitious, commercially curious and comfortable challenging senior people.

Experience within SaaS, technology or a high-growth business would be useful, but isn't essential. Multi-site experience across retail, property, leisure, hospitality or other operationally complex businesses could also translate brilliantly.

Why Join?

Because the potential is huge.

You’ll be joining a business with serious backing, huge ambition and an exceptional leadership team at a point where there is still so much to build.

You’ll have the opportunity to create a function, influence strategy, work closely with investors and senior leadership and make a visible commercial impact on the journey towards £100m revenue and beyond.

For someone ambitious enough to ultimately become a top CFO, this is the sort of role that could genuinely accelerate that journey.
