Head of Commercial
Location: Ystrad Mynach
Salary Range: £80,000 to £90,000 per annum
About Us
With over 50 years of fire safety experience, we serve fire door installers and firestopping contractors across the UK through our vast portfolio of passive fire protection products from well-known and trusted brands.
We are an ambitious, high-growth business with a clear objective to grow from £15m turnover to £50m by 2030. To support this growth, we are seeking a commercially driven and strategic Head of Commercial to lead revenue generation, customer growth, product strategy, and customer experience across the business.
The Role
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy across Trade, eCommerce, and Product channels. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership to drive sustainable revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships, improve commercial performance, and build a scalable commercial function capable of supporting the next phase of growth.
The Head of Commercial will work closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team to ensure commercial decisions are aligned with the company's long-term vision and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute the company's commercial strategy to support growth towards the 2030 revenue target.
- Own and be accountable for overall revenue performance across all sales channels.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and growth initiatives.
- Drive customer acquisition, retention, and account development strategies.
- Build robust sales forecasting and pipeline management processes.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
Trade Sales & Account Management
- Lead the development of the Trade Sales function.
- Strengthen relationships with key customers and strategic accounts.
- Implement account management frameworks to maximise customer lifetime value.
- Develop sales processes, standards, and performance expectations.
- Create a high-performance sales culture focused on accountability and results.

eCommerce Commercial Performance
- Work closely with Marketing and Digital teams to maximise online revenue performance.
- Monitor conversion, customer acquisition, retention, and profitability metrics.
- Ensure commercial opportunities are identified and acted upon across the customer journey.
- Support the development of pricing, promotions, and commercial campaigns.
Product Strategy & Commercial Management
- Define and manage pricing strategies across product categories.
- Analyse product profitability, market positioning, and customer demand.
- Support new product development and product range optimisation.
- Use customer and market insights to inform commercial decisions.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to maximise commercial returns.
Customer Experience & Service
- Lead the Customer Service function and establish a customer-centric culture.
- Develop and monitor service KPIs including response times, resolution rates, and customer satisfaction.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience.
- Ensure customer feedback is captured and used to improve products, services, and processes.
CRM, Reporting & Commercial Insight
- Implement and maintain CRM discipline across the business.
- Establish clear reporting frameworks for pipeline performance and revenue forecasting.
- Use data and insights to support decision-making and commercial planning.
- Develop meaningful commercial dashboards and performance reporting.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and develop a scalable commercial organisation.
- Recruit, coach, and develop high-performing team members.
- Establish clear objectives, accountability measures, and development plans.
- Foster a collaborative culture across Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Digital functions.
- Act as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to company-wide strategic decisions.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a senior commercial, sales, or business development leadership role.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering significant revenue growth.
- Experience managing multiple commercial channels, including Trade and eCommerce.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse performance and identify growth opportunities.
- Experience building and leading high-performing teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.
- Experience implementing CRM systems and sales management processes.
