We are looking for an experienced Head of Commercial to join KBC Logistics and take responsibility for the commercial performance of our growing transport operation.

This is a senior, hands-on role requiring someone with strong UK container transport experience who understands both the commercial and operational sides of the industry.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading customer tariff and rate reviews, ensuring our work is commercially sustainable and profitable
  • Reviewing customer performance, volumes, rates and profitability across the business
  • Managing commercial discussions and customer escalations
  • Working closely with our planning teams to identify which customers and work should be prioritised based on commercial value and operational fit
  • Identifying opportunities to improve vehicle utilisation through intelligent job combinations and backloads
  • Reviewing existing work and identifying where rates or operating arrangements need to change
  • Supporting and challenging planners on commercial decision-making
  • Managing tenders, quotations and new business opportunities
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders and other key customers
  • Visiting customers and developing long-term commercial relationships
  • Working closely with senior management and depot teams to drive revenue, margin and fleet utilisation

The person we are looking for must have:

  • Significant experience within the UK container transport industry
  • Strong knowledge of deep-sea container operations
  • A good understanding of transport planning, routing and job combinations
  • Experience dealing with shipping lines, freight forwarders and major container customers
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of transport rates, costs and margins
  • The confidence to challenge both customers and internal operational decisions when necessary
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills

This is not simply a sales position. We are looking for somebody who understands container transport from the ground up and can use that knowledge to improve the commercial performance of the operation.

📍 Location: Based out of any of our depots (Purfleet, Felixstowe, Gateway, Southampton, Hull, Immingham)

💷 Package: Competitive salary + company car
