What you’ll do (the role)

Summary

Lightsource bp is looking for someone to join the Power Markets department to help drive the next phase of our growth and global expansion.

As a Head of Commercial Operations, you will support the Chief Commercial Officer in developing and implementing commercial strategies and delivering projects to support the global power markets team. You will be a key member of the commercial function leadership team. This includes identifying opportunities for coordination between the regions, reporting, team ways of working and alignment as well as exploring how we can leverage synergies with bp at a global level.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Work with the CCO and Regional Heads of Power Market to develop and implement commercial strategies for Lightsource bp pipeline and assets.
  • Co-ordinate key aspects of day-to-day business management for the Power Markets activities, working closely with other business units and team members globally.
  • Work cross functionally to drive high-priority strategic initiatives in a variety of fields to facilitate the growth and management of Power Markets.
  • Promote and secure our ways of working across the Power Markets area globally.
  • Identify gaps in our existing ways of working, and work with the Chief Commercial Officer to outline and implement improved processes, roll out new systems, taking ownership of end-to-end delivery of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support preparation for Board and Senior Management engagement, including developing clear and concise presentations.
  • Assist the Chief Commercial Officer with reporting activities to secure the correct functioning of Power Markets in all the Regions.
  • Support interfaces between Lightsource bp Power Markets team and various bp teams to identify opportunities to drive integration value.
  • Lead projects to build out the global commercial function in conjunctions with the regional power markets teams for example looking at our approach to regulatory compliance, establishing ways of working and tools for optimizing portfolios, bringing innovations in contracting in one region to the global platform.
  • Work with wider business to build out exposure management reporting.

Who we’re looking for

Knowledge/ Experience

  • 10+ years professional experience; energy / renewables / development.
  • Strong interest in the energy industry.
  • Background in Finance, Business Management, or Power Markets preferred.
  • BA or equivalent required; Masters preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Power BI preferred.

General Skills/Attributes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence senior management.
  • Excellent numerical skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Flexible and “can do” attitude.
