Head of Commercial Property Accounting
Central London | £75,000–£90,000 + Bonus & Benefits | 5 Days in Office
We are supporting a well-regarded commercial property business with the appointment of a Head of Commercial Property Accounting to lead its property finance function.
This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the Property Accounting team, alongside the opportunity to strengthen processes, controls and ways of working across the function.
Working closely with Property Management, Asset Management and Facilities Management, you’ll ensure accurate and timely financial delivery across the commercial property portfolio while bringing greater structure, accountability and consistency to the team.
The role requires genuine commercial property management accounting experience, including strong service charge knowledge and hands-on experience using Qube. Both are essential.
The Role
- Lead, manage and develop the Property Accounting team, setting clear expectations and ensuring consistently high standards.
- Oversee property accounting across the commercial portfolio, including service charge accounting, reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Take oversight of rent collection, arrears and associated operational finance processes.
- Manage month-end processes and reporting timetables, ensuring accuracy and deadlines are maintained.
- Review existing processes, controls and reporting, identifying where improvements can be made.
- Introduce clear structure, accountability and effective ways of working across the team.
- Remain close to the detail, providing practical support and guidance where required.
- Work closely with Property Management, Asset Management and Facilities Management to strengthen communication and ensure effective financial delivery.
- Develop the team, building capability and creating clear ownership across the function.
- Drive improvements across systems, reporting and operational processes.

About You
- Strong commercial property management accounting experience is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of service charge accounting and the financial processes associated with managing commercial property portfolios.
- Previous experience leading or managing a Property Accounting or Client Accounting team.
- Hands-on experience using Qube is essential.
- Comfortable combining team leadership with day-to-day operational involvement.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, reporting and month-end processes.
- A track record of improving processes and bringing greater structure and consistency to a finance function.
- Confident working across Property Management, Asset Management, Facilities Management and Finance teams.
- Organised, pragmatic and delivery-focused, with strong attention to detail.
- A capable people manager who can set expectations, create accountability and develop a team.

The Opportunity
- £75,000–£90,000 depending on experience.
- Discretionary bonus and competitive benefits package.

This will suit an experienced commercial property accounting professional who enjoys leading people but doesn’t want to move away from the operational side of the role. You’ll have the scope to make tangible improvements to the function while remaining closely involved in the financial delivery across the portfolio.
