Head of Commercial Property Accounting

Central London | 5 days in office | £75,000–£90,000 + bonus + benefits

We are supporting a well-regarded commercial property business with the appointment of a Head of Commercial Property Accounting to lead and develop their finance function.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with strong commercial property management accounting experience who enjoys both leading a team and remaining closely involved in operational delivery.

Please note, the client is specifically seeking candidates with commercial property management accounting experience and hands-on Qube experience. These are essential requirements for the role.

The successful candidate will play a key role in bringing structure, accountability and operational excellence to the finance function, whilst working closely with Property Management, Asset Management and Facilities Management teams across the portfolio.

The role will involve:

  • Leading and managing the Property Accounting team
  • Overseeing service charge accounting, reconciliations and financial reporting across a commercial property portfolio
  • Managing rent collection, arrears and operational finance processes
  • Reviewing and improving processes, controls and reporting accuracy
  • Implementing structure, accountability and clear ways of working across the function
  • Managing month-end processes and reporting timetables
  • Supporting and developing team members whilst remaining hands-on operationally
  • Working closely with Property Management, Asset Management and Facilities Management teams to improve communication and delivery
  • Driving improvements across systems, reporting and operational processes

They are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven commercial property management accounting experience
  • Has experience managing commercial property portfolios and service charge accounting processes
  • Has led or managed property accounting or client accounting teams
  • Possesses strong service charge accounting knowledge
  • Is operationally focused and comfortable working closely with the detail
  • Enjoys improving processes, controls and reporting structures
  • Is confident managing stakeholders across Property, Facilities and Finance teams
  • Has hands-on experience using Qube (essential)
  • Is highly organised, proactive and delivery-focused
