I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You
The firm is looking for someone who can combine strong technical Commercial Property experience with genuine people and leadership skills.
You may already be a Head of Department, Partner or Senior Associate with previous management experience and be looking for a role where you can have more influence.

- Significant experience in Commercial Property.
- Previous experience managing, supervising or developing a team.
- A strong technical and commercial understanding of Commercial Property.
- Confidence managing client relationships and developing new business.
- A commercial approach and the desire to grow a department rather than simply maintain the status quo.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A collaborative approach to leadership and team development.
A team move could also be considered for the right individuals.
The Opportunity
This is not simply a case of taking over an existing department and keeping things ticking along.
The firm is looking for someone who wants to put their own name on the Commercial Property offering, develop its profile and play a significant role in its future growth.
The department is already established, meaning there is a strong platform to build from, but there is genuine scope for the successful candidate to influence how the team develops, grow the client base and increase the level and value of work coming into the department.
You will be joining a team with an experienced senior structure around you, providing support as you transition into the leadership role. This includes experienced senior colleagues who can provide guidance and support while you establish yourself and begin shaping the department in your own way.
