Alliance is looking for an ambitious, creative, and highly strategic communications professional to lead our Communications function at an exciting and important time for the Party. As Head of Communications, you will play a central role within the central team in shaping how Alliance communicates its vision, values, and policies to the public. You will lead a dynamic operation working closely with Leadership, elected reps, and staff to get our positive message out in an increasingly fast-moving and challenging political environment.
Job Role: Communications & Marketing
Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 (Depending on experience)
Hours per week: 37.50

- Lead the Party’s overall communications strategy, ensuring it supports Alliance’s political priorities, values, and objectives.
- Develop and deliver a proactive media strategy, securing positive coverage, and ensuring Alliance’s voice is heard across all media outlets.
- Act as senior media adviser, providing strategic communications advice and support to Alliance Leadership, elected representatives, and MLAs’ individual support staff.
- Manage the Party’s media relations, including building strong relationships with journalists, editors, producers, and political correspondents.
- Lead and manage the communications team, setting priorities, supporting professional development, and ensuring high-quality delivery.
- Coordinate press releases, statements, and reactive communications, ensuring messaging is clear, consistent, and timely.
- Identify opportunities to promote Alliance policies, campaigns, and achievements.
- Preparing briefings and lines to take for MLAs.
- Oversee the Party’s digital communications strategy including website, social media, video, and other digital platforms.
- Organising media events and press conferences.
- Monitor the political and media landscape, identifying emerging issues, opportunities, and potential risks.
