We’re recruiting: Head of Communications
EMMS International | £48,988–£54,432 | Home-based in Scotland
EMMS International, Scotland’s longest-serving international healthcare charity, is looking for an experienced Head of Communications to join its small, ambitious team.
This is a significant role at an important point in EMMS’s development. Following an organisational review, a new communications strategy is in place and a full rebrand is underway. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Communications to help deliver the strategy, roll out the new brand and play a lead role in developing EMMS’s digital presence, content and profile.
The role will include:
- Leading digital engagement and helping grow EMMS’s profile and supporter base
- Overseeing the development and ongoing management of a new website
- Creating compelling content, campaigns and fundraising appeals
- Supporting PR, media, advocacy and public affairs activity
- Managing EMMS’s content and digital asset library
- Monitoring communications performance and engagement
- Producing the annual Impact Report
- Working closely with programme partners in Scotland and internationally

We’re particularly interested in candidates with strong digital marketing and social media experience, excellent storytelling skills, an understanding of audience engagement and conversion, and experience working across websites, campaigns, communications and stakeholder relationships.

The role is primarily home-based, with approximately monthly meetings in Scotland, often Edinburgh, and the potential for occasional international travel. Applicants must live in Scotland and have the right to work in the UK.
Salary: £48,988–£54,432 depending on experience
Benefits include an 8% employer pension contribution, 25–30 days’ annual leave plus public holidays, flexible working, life assurance and travel expenses to the Edinburgh office.
