Referment is working with a European campaigning organisation to hire a Head of Communications to lead its communications strategy and help turn important social and policy issues into campaigns that engage people and drive meaningful action.

This is a senior, hands-on role combining communications strategy, storytelling, media relations, content and partnerships. You'll work closely with campaign teams and senior leadership while managing and developing a small communications function.

The role would suit someone who can set the strategic direction but is equally comfortable getting involved personally, whether that's developing a campaign narrative, pitching a journalist or working with creators and partners.

The Role

You'll Be Responsible For

  • Developing communications strategies around major campaigns.
  • Turning complex policy and social issues into clear and compelling stories.
  • Identifying strong media angles and opportunities around campaign activity.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with journalists and media organisations.
  • Producing press releases, briefings and other media materials.
  • Developing partnerships with influencers, creators and other external voices.
  • Overseeing social media strategy and supporting the creation of campaign content.
  • Working with campaign teams to identify storytelling opportunities.
  • Staying close to the news cycle and identifying opportunities for campaigns to gain attention.
  • Ensuring consistent messaging and tone across external communications.
  • Defining communications and social-media KPIs and using performance data to improve activity.
  • Advising senior leadership on communications, reputation and crisis-management issues.
  • Coaching colleagues to become stronger storytellers and communicators.
  • Line managing and developing members of the communications team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
