Jacobson Garner is partnering with a growing specialist insurance business to appoint a Head of Compliance (12 month FTC)
This is a senior leadership position with ownership of the compliance strategy across its UK regulated insurance entities. The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to the executive team and Boards, lead the relationship with the PRA, FCA and Lloyd’s, and manage an established Compliance team.
The role will hold the SMF16 and SMF17 functions.
Key responsibilities
- Own and develop the compliance strategy across the UK regulated business.
- Provide expert regulatory advice and constructive challenge to the executive team, Boards and wider organisation.
- Maintain effective relationships with the PRA, FCA and Lloyd’s, coordinating regulatory visits, applications and information requests.
- Lead the preparation and submission of senior management appointment applications.
- Maintain robust compliance monitoring and compliance risk assessment frameworks.
- Oversee compliance reviews and risk assessments, reporting findings to senior leadership and supporting the implementation of required actions.
- Ensure the business continues to meet its regulatory compliance and anti-financial crime obligations.
- Produce regular compliance reporting for Boards and executive committees.
- Maintain the compliance policy framework and ensure relevant training is delivered across the business.
- Coordinate regulatory attestations and oversee the completion of relevant regulatory returns.
- Support the onboarding of new entities in the UK and Europe, alongside wider strategic activity including acquisitions and restructuring.
- Lead, develop and manage the Compliance team.

Experience required
- Significant compliance leadership experience within the Lloyd’s or wider London insurance market.
- The credibility and experience required to hold SMF16 and SMF17 responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of PRA, FCA and Lloyd’s regulatory requirements.
- An established track record of managing relationships with regulators, Boards and senior executives.
- Experience supporting commercial or strategic activity such as onboarding new entities, acquisitions or restructuring.
- Broad knowledge of insurance operations, products, regulatory practices and market conventions.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and regulatory deadlines effectively.
