Head of Compliance and Governance
Rental and Commercial Vehicles | Amersham with hybrid working | £65,000–£75,000
A senior compliance opportunity for someone who understands the vehicle rental, leasing or wider automotive sector.
We are supporting a respected UK organisation working across the rental and commercial vehicle sector to appoint a Head of Compliance and Governance. This is a permanent, full-time role combining sector-facing compliance leadership with responsibility for internal governance and risk.
The Role
You will lead the compliance framework and member audit programme for the rental and commercial vehicle area, helping members meet relevant codes, legal requirements and regulatory obligations. You will also provide clear, practical guidance on industry issues and turn audit, complaint and regulatory insight into improvements.

- Manage the sector audit programme, external providers, service standards, KPIs, reporting and budget performance.
- Advise members and colleagues on codes of conduct, competition law and relevant legal or regulatory matters.
- Lead and support sector committees and working groups, including effective governance and secretariat arrangements.
- Develop member guidance, briefings, webinars and other practical resources.
- Strengthen internal compliance, governance and risk controls, including monitoring plans, data protection and accreditation requirements.
- Work across policy, data, learning and development, and other teams to respond to regulatory change and improve member support.
What You Will Bring
- Substantial experience in a compliance or governance role, ideally in vehicle rental, leasing, automotive or a closely related regulated environment.
- A sound understanding of the rental and commercial vehicle sector and the issues affecting its operators.
- Confidence interpreting complex requirements and explaining them clearly to different audiences.
- Experience drafting and reviewing legal or commercial documents, such as supplier agreements and NDAs.
- Strong judgement, organisation, communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to turn data and audit findings into action.

The Package
- Salary of £65,000–£75,000, with the level reflecting relevant experience.
- 8.5% non-contributory pension, 25 days’ annual leave (rising with service to 30 days), an additional personal day, life assurance at three times salary and a health cash plan.
