Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced compliance professional to join our FCA-authorised investment firm as Head of Compliance & MLRO (SMF16 & SMF17). The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible for approval to hold, the FCA Senior Management Functions SMF16 (Compliance Oversight) and SMF17 (Money Laundering Reporting Officer). This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing the firm's compliance and financial crime framework, providing regulatory advice to senior management, and ensuring the business continues to meet its regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the firm's compliance framework in accordance with FCA rules and applicable legislation.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business.
  • Develop and deliver the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan and ensure timely remediation of identified issues.
  • Provide practical regulatory advice to senior management on products, business initiatives and regulatory obligations.
  • Act as the firm's primary contact with the FCA on compliance matters and support regulatory enquiries and supervisory reviews.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of the SMF17 MLRO, including oversight of the firm's anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and sanctions framework.
  • Review internal suspicious activity reports and, where appropriate, submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the Crime Agency.
  • Oversee customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), ongoing monitoring and financial crime controls.
  • Review financial promotions, website content and marketing communications to ensure compliance with FCA requirements.
  • Prepare regular Compliance and MLRO reports for the Board.
  • Maintain and update compliance policies, procedures and regulatory registers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
