Location: London (hybrid 3 days per week)
Comp: Exceptional
X4 are partnered with a well-backed, globally expanding commodities trading firm to appoint an experienced Head of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs into a high-impact position at the centre of their international trading operation.
You'll operate at the intersection of regulation, commodities trading, commercial strategy and geopolitics, with a remit spanning UK, European, Far East and US physical and financial energy markets. With close exposure to senior leadership, the trading floor and key regulatory stakeholders, you'll have a genuine seat at the table in shaping their approach to compliance strategy across some of the world’s most important energy markets.
The role has a strong regulatory affairs focus, covering FCA, MiFID, EMIR and market abuse, alongside direct engagement with regulators and oversight of regulatory developments across multiple jurisdictions. You’ll assess the commercial impact of regulatory change, shape policy/controls and provide the strategic insight needed to keep the business ahead of a fast-moving, increasingly complex regulatory landscape.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
