HEAD OF COMPLIANCE

Alexander Bonhill

Hybrid

Role Overview

You will lead compliance oversight for Alexander Bonhill Limited (ABL), the Group insurance broker of Odevo UK, guiding a dynamic, multi-entity operation through a period of rapid growth and innovation.

As the designated SMF16 (Compliance Oversight), you will own the policy, advisory and monitoring framework for our insurance distribution activities, ensuring the fair treatment of customers and robust adherence to FCA rules across ABL and its Appointed Representatives.

You will be a visible, trusted adviser to senior leadership, shaping governance, risk management and culture to consistently deliver good outcomes, with a particular emphasis on the FCA’s multi-occupancy buildings insurance regime and leaseholder fairness.

This is an FCA-controlled function subject to approval (Form A) and fitness and propriety checks before appointment takes effect. You will help refine and embed the Statement of Responsibilities, lead on SM&CR records and Conduct Rules oversight, and ensure ABL’s frameworks for product governance, conflicts, client money (CASS), AML/CTF, sanctions, data privacy and whistleblowing are effective, evidenced and continually improving.

Operating remotely with travel to offices as needed, you will thrive in a mission-led, tech-forward environment that values accountability, collaboration and pragmatism.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

You will spend your days translating FCA requirements into practical processes, testing how they work in the real world, and partnering with leaders to fix issues fast. Expect a rhythm of monitoring reviews, MI analysis, Board and committee reporting, policy maintenance, AR oversight, training and advisory support on live broking operations and product governance.

What Success Looks Like

  • A robust, risk-based compliance monitoring programme that identifies issues early and drives timely, evidenced remediation.
  • Clear, actionable MI that demonstrates delivery of good customer outcomes, with particular focus on leaseholders in multi-occupancy buildings.
  • Confident, timely FCA interactions and notifications, with zero missed regulatory deadlines and accurate submissions via Connect and RegData.
  • A well-managed AR framework with effective onboarding, oversight and escalation, evidenced by clean audits and strong controls.
  • Product governance and fair value assessments that stand up to scrutiny and demonstrate well-managed conflicts and remuneration practices.
  • A strong culture of conduct and compliance, supported by engaging training, improved staff confidence and fewer repeat findings.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
