Head of Conflicts

We are working with a premier global law firm to hire a Head of Conflicts in London. In this role you will lead the strategic direction of the new business intake function, overseeing complex risk management decisions and guiding high-level client acceptance policies.

The firm is looking for a senior lawyer, such as an Executive Counsel or Special Counsel, who possesses extensive leadership experience within global conflict management and risk operations. They are looking for candidates with exceptional commercial judgment and the sophisticated mediation skills necessary to influence senior stakeholders under pressure.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the operational strategy and performance of the London business intake team while mentoring staff to maintain high compliance standards.
  • Directing high-level decisions on client and matter acceptance to align with broader firm strategies and risk frameworks.
  • Reviewing and negotiating complex conflict provisions within client agreements, engagement letters, and tender submissions.
  • Advising executive management on intricate legal and commercial conflict queries, offering expert recommendations based on thorough risk analysis.
  • Designing and delivering advanced training programmes for partners and legal professionals regarding conflict management and regulatory obligations.
  • Collaborating with global intake leaders to develop innovative client acceptance policies, reporting insights, and specialised risk software.
  • Managing large-scale projects and contributing to the training of wider risk functions, including the financial crime team.
