Head of Construction

Birmingham | National Law Firm | Partner Level

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Construction Partner to take the lead on the development and growth of a construction practice in Birmingham for a national law firm.

This is a strategic appointment for an established construction lawyer with a strong following and the ambition to build on an existing platform, develop client relationships, and drive the next stage of the team's growth.

With the backing of a national firm, this role offers the opportunity to shape the direction of the practice, raise its profile in the market, and build a team around a clear commercial strategy.

The Opportunity

The firm is looking to appoint a senior construction lawyer who can take ownership of the Birmingham offering, combining technical expertise with strong commercial judgment and a clear vision for growth.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and implement a strategy for the practice
  • Strengthen relationships with key clients and referrers
  • Identify new opportunities across the construction and wider real estate sectors

The Role

  • Lead and develop the construction practice in Birmingham, setting the strategic direction for future growth.
  • Advise on a broad range of contentious and/or non-contentious construction matters, depending on your area of expertise.
  • Build on existing client relationships and develop new business opportunities across the construction, development, and real estate markets.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm's national network to maximize cross-referral opportunities.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop lawyers to support the expansion of the practice.
  • Play a key role in raising the profile of the construction team and strengthening its position in the Birmingham market.
  • Contribute to the wider strategic objectives of the firm as part of the partnership.

You will be an established Construction Partner with a strong reputation in the market, a demonstrable client following, and the commercial drive to develop a successful practice.

You will have the credibility to lead from the front, the relationships to generate new opportunities, and the vision to build a team capable of delivering sustainable growth.
