Role Description
The Head of Construction is a full-time, on-site leadership role based at Riverside College in Widnes. This position is responsible for overseeing the construction curriculum, managing teaching teams, and ensuring high-quality delivery across all construction-related programs. - Planning and coordinating course content

The Head of Construction will:
- Manage resources and budgets for the construction area
- Support staff development
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including employers and accrediting bodies
The role also involves:
- Contributing to strategic planning
- Leading quality improvement initiatives
- Promoting a safe, inclusive learning environment that reflects current construction practices
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Construction Management and Project Management skills to oversee programs, resources, and curriculum delivery effectively.
- Candidates should possess Budgeting and Project Control skills to manage departmental finances, track performance, and ensure efficient use of resources.
- Candidates should possess Procurement skills to coordinate equipment and materials, manage supplier relationships, and support practical learning activities.
- Relevant industry experience in the construction sector and previous leadership or management experience within education or training.
- Recognized qualification in construction, civil engineering, or a related field; teaching or training qualification (or willingness to work toward one) is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, people management, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to lead teams and support diverse learners.
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety, equality, diversity, and inclusive practices in both workshop and classroom environments.
