Job Overview

About The Role

Consumer Finance is a core part of AO's success story, supporting millions of pounds in revenue while helping customers spread the cost of the products they love.

As Head of Consumer Finance, you'll lead the commercial and strategic direction of AO Finance, driving performance, shaping future growth opportunities and strengthening our market-leading proposition. Working closely with senior leaders across AO and key external partners, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering sustainable growth, outstanding customer outcomes and long-term business value.

This is a role with real influence across AO, bringing together commercial performance, customer experience, strategic partnerships and future growth.

Our people are our superpower, and we’re unstoppable when we’re together! We want your ideas to flow, and what better way to make that happen than being based onsite in our Bolton office 5 days a week, where our culture fuels creativity, collaboration and growth. If a £1 bet in the pub between two friends can become the UK's most trusted electrical retailer, imagine what else can be achieved when we’re together.

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

  • Leading the AO Finance agenda, with accountability for commercial performance, proposition development and strategic growth
  • Driving improvements across key performance levers including conversion, average transaction value, customer uptake and partner revenue
  • Developing and managing strategic relationships with finance providers and commercial partners
  • Using data, customer insight and market intelligence to identify opportunities, solve challenges and unlock growth
  • Shaping and delivering the Consumer Finance strategy and roadmap in partnership with senior stakeholders
  • Collaborating across Financial Services and Retail to enhance customer propositions and strengthen our competitive position
  • Building alignment across the business to ensure strategic initiatives are prioritised and delivered effectively
  • Creating robust business cases and investment proposals to support decision-making and future growth
  • Delivering meaningful reporting and insight to executive and board-level audiences
  • Maintaining strong governance, regulatory compliance and financial controls while championing great customer outcomes
  • Building alignment and influencing stakeholders across AO and partner organisations to drive delivery and achieve shared goals

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
