Head of Freelance & Contract Recruitment
White Collar Construction | Henry Martin Group | Liverpool Street, London
The clients are there. The work is coming in. The division is yours to build.
We’re looking for an experienced contract recruiter to join Henry Martin Group and take ownership of our Freelance & Contract division.
This isn’t a cold start.
We already work with some of the UK’s leading Tier 1 main contractors, developers, and specialist contractors. Contract requirements are coming into the business now, alongside the opportunities being generated by our existing recruitment team.
What we need is someone who wants to take ownership of that market and build something substantial.
You’ll work directly with founders Joel and Jamie Herman, develop our existing accounts, win new relationships, and build your own team around you.
What you’ll be walking into:
- Established relationships across the UK & European construction market
- Live freelance and contract opportunities already coming into HMG
- An existing team recruiting across Operations, Commercial, Design, M&E, and Preconstruction
- The freedom to shape the contract division around the markets you know best
- Direct access to the founders and the backing to hire and grow a team

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who are we looking for?
- You’ll be an experienced 360 contract recruiter who knows how to build relationships, win business, and run a profitable desk.
- You might already be leading a team.
- You might be a successful contract biller who has hit a ceiling where you are and wants the opportunity to build something of your own.
- White collar construction experience would be ideal, although we’re open to speaking with people from closely related engineering markets.
