The role

Our 1,200 staff work across 12 UK regions and our national centre in London. Regional offices support the work of local branches, helping to represent, recruit, organise and retain members – as well as making key contributions in areas such as campaigning, strategies for negotiation and bargaining, and actions against discrimination.

As Head of Corporate Services, working under the direction of the Regional Secretary, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of Corporate (Operational) Services within your region and will be expected to make a key contribution within the Regional Management Team to strategic development planning and management of change. You’ll also line manage, coordinate, support and motivate teams across administrative, membership records, finance, IT & systems, personnel and other functions, in order to deliver and maintain services to branches and the region’s staff. In doing so, you’ll act as the vital liaison between the regional office and the branch level lay structure.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience of organisational problem solving, including analysis of financial information and statistics, plus evidence of contributing to strategic plans, developing systems/processes and implementing performance standards.
  • Demonstrable commitment to personal and staff development.
  • Experience of operating and influencing effectively in a trade union or voluntary organisation environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including mentoring and coaching, motivating, dealing with complaints, handling relationships, eg between staff and lay members, presenting and influencing at all levels.
  • Experience of negotiating commercial contracts and agreements.
  • Ability to produce comprehensive and coherent reports.
  • A track record of leadership and day to day team management, including effective delegation, management of resources and staff issues, plus dealing with change.
  • Experience of project coordination, including time management, developing budgets/controlling expenditure, maintaining databases and confidential information.
  • A track record of using initiative where independent decision making is required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
