About The Role
As Head of Creative Marketing you will be responsible for leading the creative vision and execution of the brand across all customer touchpoints. This role oversees the development of creative marketing campaigns, visual brand storytelling, TOV, styling, photography production, POS & Packaging look and feel, and creative delivery across digital, retail and print channels.
Working closely with wider Marketing, Buying, Merchandising, Digital and Retail teams, the role ensures all creative output is customer-focused, commercially effective, and aligned to the brand strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Brand & Creative Leadership
- Partner with the Marketing Director in developing the creative iteration of Matalan into a modern, relevant, future-facing brand across all customer touchpoints
- Lead the creative marketing strategy, ensuring a consistent and compelling brand identity across fashion and homeware categories
- Develop seasonal campaign concepts and brand storytelling that drive customer engagement and commercial performance
- Act as the co-guardian of brand standards across all channels and customer touchpoints along with Head of Brand

Campaigns & Content
- Develop and execution of briefed integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, CRM, retail, print and PR
- Oversee content planning and creative asset delivery to online to support key trading events, launches and seasonal activity
- Ensure all creative output delivers against customer and commercial objectives
Creative Production & Studio Management
- Lead all photography and video production, from concept and art direction through to final delivery
- Oversee styling direction across fashion and homeware campaigns, ensuring products are presented in a commercially inspiring way
- Manage internal creative teams and external agencies, photographers, stylists and production partners
- Drive creative excellence, efficiency and consistency across all production activity
- Be alert to innovation across tools, AI and platforms that can assist the marketing strategy
Retail Experience & Brand Communications
- Lead the creative development of in-store POS, window campaigns, retail graphics and other customer-facing communications
- Transform the online look and feel to ensure it elevates into the best example of the Matalan Brand
- Oversee packaging design and strategy to ensure a cohesive and premium brand experience across all product categories
- Partner with Retail and Product teams to deliver engaging and commercially effective customer experiences

Leadership & Performance
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing creative marketing team
- Manage and optimise creative and production budgets effectively
- Use customer insights, market trends and campaign performance data to continually improve creative effectiveness and return on investment
About You
- Significant experience in a senior creative marketing, brand or creative leadership role within retail, fashion, homeware or lifestyle sectors
- Proven experience creatively leading integrated campaigns and managing end-to-end creative production
- Deep understanding of photography, art direction, styling, design, packaging and retail communications
- Experience managing creative teams and agency partners
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance creativity with business performance
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills
