Head of Credit Risk

Location: London – Hybrid
Salary: Up to £130,000
Type: Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Head of Credit Risk to lead the credit risk function for a growing lending fintech.

This is a senior, hands-on role with responsibility for credit strategy, risk appetite, underwriting, portfolio performance and credit decisioning. You’ll work closely with Product, Commercial, Data, Technology and Collections to optimise risk-adjusted returns and support responsible growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and develop credit risk strategy, policies and underwriting frameworks.
  • Define risk appetite, lending criteria, portfolio limits and KRIs.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging risks.
  • Improve credit models, scorecards and decisioning processes.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing credit risk team.
  • Work cross-functionally to improve lending products and customer outcomes.
  • Use data and analytics to drive credit decisions and portfolio performance.

Key Requirements

  • Credit risk experience within financial services.
  • Essential: Lending fintech experience.
  • Previous experience leading a credit risk team.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk, underwriting and portfolio management.
  • Strong analytical and commercial decision-making skills.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Looker.
  • Knowledge of credit risk modelling and statistical analysis.
  • Small business lending experience is desirable.
