About Cred

At Cred (getcred.co.uk) we are building something different, a new category of flexible credit, built for the modern consumer. Our flexible line of credit product enables our customers to access the credit they need, when they need it and repay in a way that suits their lifestyle. A single interest rate, no fees and predictable monthly repayments that our customers control.

We are expanding our team and looking for someone to lead the development of our credit, data, AI & analytics capabilities.

We are building the first AI native consumer lender. You will own Cred’s end-to-end credit and AI analytics strategy for Cred’s next generation flexible line-of-credit product. You will be responsible for curating our data assets and unlocking the latest technologies to power intelligence led acquisition and pricing with a strong focus on delivering superior unit economics combined with good customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

You will be a key part of our leadership team with the following responsibilities:

  • Credit strategy: Define and maintain risk appetite, credit policy, rules and control framework for our existing and new products.
  • Data strategy: Develop data strategies including CRA, Open Banking and alternatives driving competitive advantage
  • Decisioning & underwriting: Define customer personas, credit rules & scorecards across eligibility, affordability, creditworthiness and fraud.
  • Limit & pricing strategy: Own initial limit assignment and risk-based pricing. Implement ongoing processes for creditworthiness and affordability assessment for active customers including credit limit increase strategy.
  • Portfolio performance: Own reporting analytics across the credit lifecycle, including through the door metrics, active book and collections / recoveries.
  • Customer outcomes framework: Define customer personas and expected product outcomes. Own monitoring and intervention frameworks.
  • Collections strategy: Work with the Operations team to optimise arrears strategy (segmentation, contact strategy, forbearance pathways) and feed learnings back into underwriting.
  • Governance & MI: Lead Credit & Analytics committee; produce board-ready MI; maintain robust traceability of decision making.

We’d love to hear from you if you are:

  • An experienced data science or credit risk professional with a strong background and experience in a consumer lending business. Hands-on experience with revolving credit / credit cards is highly desirable.
  • Already embracing AI and delivering material business value through its capabilities
  • As comfortable getting hands-on as well as thinking strategically with senior level accountability.
  • A clear and precise communicator. You distill complexity, tailor messaging, and present confidently to senior leaders and team members alike.
  • Have been responsible for defining, implementing and monitoring successful credit strategies at scale
  • Deep understanding of CRA datasets, Open Banking Data sets and alternatives
  • Have a working understanding of the regulations that apply to lending in the UK
  • Worked across different customer acquisition channels including aggregators (price comparison), direct and channel partners
  • Strong technical analytics skills: Able to use modern analytics techniques and AI tooling for modelling and insight generation e.g DBT, SQL, Python.
  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment in a fast-moving and changing company
