The Sheffield College is a further and higher education institution dedicated to providing academic, vocational, and professional qualifications to approximately 13,000 young people and adults annually. About The Role
This is a temporary maternity cover role due to end in July 2027, or when the original post holder returns to work.
The Sheffield College is a large, vibrant and diverse further education college and we are proud of how the college contributes to transforming lives through learning by meeting local skills needs.
We have high aspirations and standards for ourselves, and our learners and this role will be a key one in supporting the college’s mission to be consistently great and ensure our students get the qualifications and skills they need to go further in employment, careers, apprenticeships, further training and university level courses.
This role will specifically support our ambitions for growth and ensuring high quality in our Sixth Form curriculum, working with the Assistant Principal to develop, implement and monitor the college’s Sixth Form provision.
Main Responsibilities
As a member of the College Leadership Team (CLT), this post will contribute to the CLT’s common goals.
To achieve these specific duties, include, but are not limited to:
- Lead curriculum staff to contribute effectively to the strategic aims of the college and ensure that local, regional and national priorities are met.
- To develop and deliver provision to meet short-, medium- and long-term growth plans for a range of qualifications within the school.
- To ensure the Sixth Form is efficiently run and delivers its financial contribution targets.
- Empower teams through an entrepreneurial, tenacious and challenging leadership style.
- Disseminate information to staff and ensure the effectiveness of college communication systems within the curriculum area.
- Be an active member of the Sixth Form Leadership Team, ensuring strategies and actions have a positive impact on the learning experience, outcomes and business success.
- Provide and contribute to deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment working in close liaison with the other Heads of Curriculum and the Assistant Principal.
- Responsible for raising standards by setting and achieving targets within the Sixth Form.
- Responsible for driving a positive culture of high aspirations, continuous improvement and customer focus.
- Contribute to own Self-Evaluation documents and Quality Improvement Plans.

What We Can Offer You
As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between £54,028.09 - £62,633.65 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role.
