Base Location: Reading - You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office

Salary: £80,700 - £121,100 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The role

This is a key strategy and strategy delivery focussed role, accountable for influencing senior stakeholders to shape and enable delivery of corporate strategy. It is accountable to the business leadership and supports key internal client areas across all business verticals within SSE’s Energy Customer Solutions Business and sits within the Portfolio Optimisation Directorate in ECS.

The role will have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of Energy Customer Solutions at a pivotal time in the industry. The role will lead the development of business recommendations, supported by qualitative and quantitative analysis, and present them to senior stakeholders.

You will

  • Work collaboratively across the ECS’s leadership team to shape, develop and deliver ECS strategy.
  • Working with the business as well as wider market landscape analysis to surface new innovative growth opportunities, build an innovative culture and mindset across the BU to facilitate innovative thinking and build business cases and seek out funding (grant or other) to support the development of these opportunities.
  • Work in partnership with key stakeholders, to facilitate the business planning cycle that integrates all internal communications, engagement and reporting requirements on behalf of the ECS business.
  • Develop and deliver financial analysis, research and business cases in line with strategic imperatives.
  • Highlight and ensure governance is in place to manage strategic risks facing ECS.
  • Interface with Group Strategy and other Business Unit Strategy functions to ensure alignment and influence accordingly.

You have

  • Influencing skills to senior level.
  • Strong team management and people leadership skills to manage a high performing team including strategy managers, analysts and strategy delivery leads.
  • A commercial leader, self-motivated, with a strong can-do attitude and willing to take full ownership of their work. You’ll have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, exceptional analytical abilities and a strong customer focus.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to spot a commercial opportunity either by reducing cost or increasing revenue.
  • Credible track record of success in influencing or delivering in customer led, operational environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills in order to bring key individuals on a transformational journey and drive change within a complex organisation, displaying the tenacity required to initiate programmes and processes which will secure the necessary transformation.
  • Use of strategy development frameworks and methodologies and demonstrable experience of using the same as well as familiarity with innovation methodologies.
