Head of Cyber Security

www.TheTechRecruiter.ai is partnering on an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Cyber Security to join a global energy organisation based in Glasgow who are undergoing continued investment in its cyber security capabilities.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead a small but highly capable Security Operations team, driving operational excellence, strengthening cyber resilience, and ensuring the effective delivery of security initiatives across a complex international environment.

The Role

  • Manage and mentor a small, agile Security Operations team, driving performance, technical excellence, and effective workload management.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across security operations and internal security projects.
  • Act as the escalation point for security incidents, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to security processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement across monitoring, response, compliance, and operational security activities.
  • Collaborate with third-party security providers and internal stakeholders to support capacity planning, trend analysis, and security roadmaps.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performing culture whilst ensuring strong governance and delivery standards.

About You

  • Experience managing security operations teams within a large, complex enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of cyber security frameworks and compliance standards, including ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, NIS2, and SOX.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise security technologies such as Palo Alto and Cortex XDR.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 security capabilities and Entra ID / Active Directory.
  • Experience securing Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
  • Advanced vulnerability management experience, including enterprise-scale scanning, remediation, and risk reduction.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
