Cyber Security Lead
Location: Liverpool / Hybrid
Working pattern: Around 2 days per week onsite
Contract length: 6 months
IR35 status: Outside IR35
Day rate: £600-750 per day
The Opportunity
Venturi is partnering with a leading transport and infrastructure company that is looking for an experienced Cyber Security Lead to take ownership of its cyber security programme and support the continued development of its security capability.
This role needs someone who can lead from the front while remaining close to the work. You’ll work with senior stakeholders, technical teams, suppliers and security specialists to improve controls, manage risk and move key security projects forward.
There’s already plenty happening across Cyber Essentials, remediation, incident response, third-party risk and security governance. You’ll help bring those areas together, set priorities and make sure things get delivered.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the day-to-day cyber security programme.
- Setting priorities across governance, risk and security operations.
- Supporting Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus activity.
- Driving remediation following audits, assessments and penetration tests.
- Improving security policies, processes and ways of working.
- Overseeing vulnerability management and helping teams address key risks.
- Supporting incident response and the development of the CSIRT function.
- Managing third-party and supplier security risks.
- Working with technology and business teams to make security part of everyday delivery.
- Providing clear updates to senior stakeholders.
- Supporting and guiding the wider cyber security team.
- Managing relationships with external security partners.

What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a Cyber Security Lead, Information Security Lead or Cyber Security Manager.
- A strong background leading security work within a large or complex organisation.
- Experience with Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus.
- Knowledge of security governance, risk and compliance.
- Experience managing remediation and vulnerability programmes.
- Understanding of frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST or CIS.
- Experience across incident response, third-party risk or security operations.
- The ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Someone who is comfortable getting involved and helping the team deliver.

Useful, But Not Essential
- Experience within transport, logistics, utilities, manufacturing, maritime or critical infrastructure.
- Experience working in a regulated environment.
- Knowledge of third-party risk platforms or supplier assurance.
- Experience improving an incident response or CSIRT function.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM or ISO 27001.
The Person
This isn’t a role for someone who only wants to sit at strategy level.
The client needs someone who can provide direction, build relationships and keep the security programme moving. You’ll need to be comfortable speaking with senior leaders, but equally happy getting involved in remediation, policies, supplier reviews and the everyday challenges facing the team.
