About the company
Our client is a well-established telecommunications and digital infrastructure group. The group has invested heavily in fibre and mobile infrastructure, with a wider portfolio spanning core telecoms, global IoT/connectivity services and managed IT services. Following a recent change of ownership backed by international infrastructure investors, the business is entering a new phase of growth, with significant investment planned in technology and data capability.
About the role
This is a business-critical replacement hire, taking ownership of data operations and business intelligence for the core telecoms business, with scope to extend into the group's newer growth divisions as the data function matures. Reporting to the Group Head of Finance, your first priority will be continuity; stabilising and automating existing KPI and management reporting (subscriber, ARPU and revenue reporting, and support for major commercial and network projects) currently pulled together across a mix of legacy on-prem systems (SQL, Oracle, SSIS, SSAS) and newer pipeline tooling.

From there, you'll lead an assessment of the current data estate and help shape its future roadmap alongside the infrastructure team, while managing and developing a team of four, including more junior analysts you'll help grow. You'll work closely with Finance, Commercial and Marketing stakeholders, so this role is as much about commercial judgement and translating data into decisions as it is technical delivery.
About you
- Strong hands-on technical background across SQL, Oracle and ETL/pipeline tooling (e.g. SSIS, Kafka), comfortable spanning legacy on-prem and modern BI environments
- Genuine people management experience - able to coach and develop a small team, not just direct technical work
- Commercially minded, able to translate technical output into insight that drives real business decisions
- Experience assessing data maturity and shaping a practical improvement roadmap
- Background in financial services, banking, utilities, energy or similar complex/regulated data environments welcome. Telecom experience is nice-to-have, not essential
