Head of Data & AI – Edinburgh
Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid)
Salary: £120,000 - £130,000 + Bonus / Equity
About Our Client
Our client is a rapidly scaling technology organisation with ambitious plans to make data and artificial intelligence central to its next stage of growth. They are looking for a senior leader to shape data strategy, build capability and identify high-value AI opportunities across the business.
The Role
Reporting into the executive leadership team, you will own the Data and AI strategy across engineering, analytics, governance and applied AI. You will lead multidisciplinary teams and ensure investment in data and AI translates into measurable customer and commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the organisation's Data and AI strategy.
- Lead and develop Data Engineering, Analytics and AI/ML teams.
- Build a roadmap for data platforms, governance and applied AI.
- Identify and prioritise commercially valuable AI use cases.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership on AI-enabled products.
- Establish standards for data quality, security, governance and responsible AI.
- Own budgets, hiring plans, technology partners and strategic suppliers.
- Present strategy, investment cases and performance to executive and board stakeholders.
- Develop a high-performing data culture across the wider organisation.

Skills & Experience
- Significant leadership experience across Data, Analytics, AI or Machine Learning.
- Track record of building and scaling multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Strong understanding of modern cloud data platforms and AI technologies.
- Experience translating data and AI strategy into commercial outcomes.
- Knowledge of data governance, privacy and responsible AI practices.
- Excellent executive stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience within SaaS, fintech, marketplaces or another technology-led organisation is advantageous.
