The West Midlands Pension Fund is seeking an experienced Head of Data and Information to lead the Fund’s data, business intelligence and information governance function. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for developing the Fund’s Information and Data Strategy and ensuring data, analytics and information management support excellent services for our members and employers.

WMPF is one of the UK’s largest pension funds providing local authority pension benefits for employees across the West Midlands. We manage and administer the pension interests of over 330,000 scheme members, 800+ employers and currently have over £22 billion in assets under management.

What the day will look like
As Head of Data and Information, you will provide strategic leadership across the Fund’s enterprise information capability, ensuring data is governed, protected and utilised to improve decision-making, operational performance and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the Fund’s Data and Information function across business intelligence, data governance, data quality, analytics and information management.
- Developing and delivering the Information and Data Strategy, aligned to the Fund’s Corporate and Digital Strategies.
- Establishing robust information governance, data ownership and quality frameworks across the organisation.
- Driving the development of enterprise architecture, reporting and analytics to support strategic decision-making.
- Leading multidisciplinary teams, including Business Intelligence, Data Projects, Information Architecture and Corporate Administration.
- Building strong partnerships with senior leaders, system owners, employers, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Overseeing regulatory reporting, information assurance, supplier governance and data-related risk.
- Championing innovation, automation and continuous improvement across the Fund’s information ecosystem.
- Deputising for the Deputy Director of Governance and Corporate Services on data and information matters where required.

About you
We’re looking for a strategic and collaborative leader who can translate complex information into meaningful outcomes and inspire a culture of data excellence.
You will have:
- Significant senior leadership experience within data, business intelligence, information management or a complex regulated environment.
- A proven track record of developing and implementing information or data strategies.
- Experience leading service transformation, governance and continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of information governance, data quality, analytics and enterprise information management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and governance bodies.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
- A passion for using data and insight to improve customer outcomes and organisational performance.

Our working arrangements
All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empower employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocated where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
