Head of Data & Engineering
Fully Remote, UK
Up to £150,000 + Benefits

The Role
You will lead a multidisciplinary Data & Engineering function, taking ownership of platform strategy, data architecture, engineering standards, and delivery excellence.

Responsibilities include:
- Defining and executing the engineering and data strategy in line with business objectives
- Leading and developing Data Engineering, Software Engineering, and Client Data Solutions teams
- Owning platform architecture, scalability, reliability, and governance
- Driving best practice across data engineering, integrations, cloud infrastructure, and deployment processes
- Establishing engineering standards, release processes, and documentation frameworks
- Working closely with product and commercial stakeholders to translate business priorities into technical delivery
- Overseeing data platform performance, data quality, and integration architecture
- Championing AI adoption and helping embed AI-enabled capabilities across products and services
- Building a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and technical excellence
- Supporting resource planning, project delivery, and team capability development
Your Skills & Experience
- Strong leadership experience within data engineering, software engineering, or platform engineering environments
- Commercial experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams
- Expertise in modern cloud data platforms, including Azure, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, and related ecosystems
- Strong understanding of data architecture, governance, data modelling, and integration design
- Experience owning and scaling data products, SaaS platforms, or customer-facing technology solutions
- Ability to balance technical strategy with business objectives and commercial priorities
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and communicating complex concepts clearly
- Knowledge of AI, machine learning, or applied AI frameworks
- Passion for developing people, building capability, and creating high-performing teams
